Action over Analysis

Have you ever found yourself with dreams that are stuck at “I’d love to start…but”
This may be:
A business idea.
A book.
Anything else you’d dreamed of achieving.
A pattern that I’ve noticed that prevents me and others from executing is a mindset around wanting to know it all prior to implementing.
Knowing it all has many faces and can look like:
Endless research on “how do I do this?”
The antidote to this is recognize that you will learn by doing.
Strategic planning. While planning can be useful, it may also be a way we hide behind our insecurities. It’s a lot easier to plan than to implement because starting something new triggers our insecurities.
The antidote to strategic planning is strategic implementation. What micro goals can you set and work towards that will help you move forward?
Analysis paralysis. You’ve read and analyzed but you’re stuck there. The amount of information you’ve consumed turns out to be demotivating. You’re now overwhelmed.
The antidote to analysis paralysis is taking action even if it’s small actions because actions give you the confidence to keep going.
When you work towards a new dream, a mindset that helps me propel forwards is remembering to focus on progress and not perfection. I have this written on a sticky note in front of my desk.
Reflective Question
What if you don’t have to get it right and just get it going?
